Viewers, Tags and My Videos

This guide covers the three places where you, and your members, see who watched what.

Why use it#

You can see how an individual member is doing, group members by what they have completed, and let members see their own progress, which supports questions such as who has finished the training.

Before you start#

  • Watch data exists only for videos at Standard or Strict protection.
  • Guests are recorded as sessions, but have no named history and earn no milestones.

Find out how one member is doing#

  1. Go to MediaShield > Viewers.
  2. Type a name or email in the search box.
  3. Click the member. You see each video they started, their progress, and when they last watched. The detail covers their 100 most recent sessions.

If a member says their progress is missing, check the video's protection level first.

Use tags#

Tags are labels you can attach to videos, and milestones attach them to members.

  1. Go to MediaShield > Tags.
  2. Type a name and click Add Tag. The slug is made for you.
  3. Delete a tag with its Delete button. The count column shows how many videos use it.

To award a tag when a viewer reaches a point in a video, use the Milestone Tags box on the video edit screen. See Analytics and Milestones.

Show members their own progress#

Place the My Videos block, or the shortcode:

[mediashield_my_videos]

It shows a grid of the videos the signed-in member has watched, with a progress bar and the filters All, In Progress and Completed. Visitors who are not logged in are asked to log in. Only videos that are published and recorded at Standard or Strict appear.

What viewers see#

Members see only their own list of watched videos with progress. They never see other members.

Check it worked#

Watch a video for a minute as a member, then reload the page that holds My Videos. The video appears with a percentage.
