Weekly Digest Email
MediaShield Pro proUpdated
Pro feature. Available in MediaShield Pro.
PRO - requires MediaShield Pro.
A short email, sent once a week, that summarises how your videos did. It is the only message MediaShield sends on its own about analytics.
Why use it#
You get a weekly picture of how your videos did without logging in. It is one short email, so it is easy to keep up with.
Before you start#
- Your site can send email. If your host blocks it, install an SMTP plugin first.
- Action Scheduler is available (the free MediaShield plugin includes it). It sends the email.
Turn it on#
- Go to MediaShield > Export.
- Find the Weekly Digest card.
- Switch on Enable Weekly Digest Email.
- In Recipient Email, type the address that should receive it. Leave it empty to use your site admin email address.
- Click Send Test Digest Now to check delivery. "Test digest sent to ..." confirms it.
The test goes to the email address of the administrator who clicked the button, not the recipient you typed, and the subject starts with [TEST]. Turn the switch on before testing, or nothing is sent.
What is in the email#
The subject is "[Your site name] MediaShield Weekly Digest". The body covers the last 7 days:
| Item | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Total Views | Watch sessions started |
| Completions | Viewers who reached the 100 percent milestone |
| Avg Completion | Average completion of sessions that watched at all |
| Alerts | The number of suspicious activity alerts created in the week, dismissed or not |
| Top 5 Videos | The five most viewed videos with view counts |
The alert figure is a count only. The email does not list who or what. Open MediaShield > Alerts for that. See Suspicious Activity and VPN Detection.
When it is sent#
It is sent as a weekly email, every seven days from when the job was first scheduled (usually when Pro was activated).
What viewers see#
This is an admin email. Viewers see nothing.
Settings#
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Enable Weekly Digest Email | On | Sends the weekly email |
| Recipient Email | Your site admin email | Where it goes. An invalid address stops the send. Clearing the field goes back to the admin email |
