How the two divide the work
Bunny Stream encodes each upload into several resolutions and delivers it from a global network, with token authentication and hotlink protection on the stream. MediaShield never touches the file. It decides which logged-in student may press play on your lesson page, draws their name over the player, caps how many devices one account watches on, and records the session.
Setup with the free plugin
- Upload the lesson to your Bunny Stream library as usual.
- In WordPress, open MediaShield > Videos > Add New Video and paste the Bunny address. MediaShield recognises it as Bunny Stream.
- Keep Protection Level on Standard: login gate, watermark and session tracking.
- Place it on the lesson with the MediaShield Video block or
[mediashield id=X].
Bunny videos get a little more from MediaShield’s player than other platform embeds: the speed selector, keyboard volume and mute, and the Autoplay, Loop and Start muted options all apply to Bunny as they do to self-hosted files. See the player.
Setup with Pro
Connecting Bunny saves pasting addresses one by one:
- Go to MediaShield > Platforms and choose Bunny Stream.
- Enter your API Key, Library ID and Pull Zone Hostname. Add the CDN Token Key if your library uses token authentication.
- Copy the Webhook URL the form shows into Bunny Stream > Library > Webhook, so encoding updates reach WordPress.
- Click Browse & Import, select videos and import them. Titles come across and the Bunny thumbnail becomes the featured image, which is also the poster before playback.
You can connect more than one library, for example one per course. See platform connections.
Gating by course
On LearnDash, Tutor LMS or LifterLMS, Pro links each imported video to a lesson, adds the player to the lesson automatically, and can block students who are not enrolled. The lesson is marked complete when the student reaches the percentage you choose. See LMS and course plugins.
What you see afterwards
Sessions and completion per student and per lesson, in WordPress. Pro adds heatmaps that show where students stop watching, realtime viewers, a weekly digest and CSV and PDF exports. See watch analytics.
What it will not solve
MediaShield does not encrypt Bunny video; Bunny sells DRM separately. It does not hide the Bunny video ID in the embed, so keep Bunny’s token authentication and hotlink protection on. It deters casual copying and identifies a leaker, and does not stop a determined copier. See MediaShield and Bunny Stream.
Common questions
Do I need Pro to use Bunny Stream?
No. The free plugin plays Bunny Stream videos when you paste their addresses. Pro adds the library connection, bulk import and token key storage.
Why is the Pull Zone Hostname required?
Without it MediaShield cannot build an address the player can use, so Pro refuses the connection rather than importing videos that never play. You can type just the prefix and MediaShield completes it.
Does MediaShield add to my Bunny bill?
No. Students stream from Bunny exactly as before. MediaShield only decides whether a student may start playing and records what they watched.
