What training teams need
Internal training has a different priority from a paid course. Piracy is rarely the worry; the questions are who has to watch this, who did, and can we prove it. MediaShield answers those inside the WordPress site you already run.
Limit videos to the right people
Require Login is on by default, so nothing plays for the public. Restrict to Role on each video limits it to one WordPress role, for example a department or a manager tier. Allowed Domains keeps the embeds from playing on other sites. See who can watch.
If your training is organised as courses in LearnDash, Tutor LMS or LifterLMS, Pro links each video to a lesson, gates it by enrolment and marks the lesson complete when the employee reaches the percentage you set. See LMS and course plugins.
To stop people skipping to the end of a compliance video, turn on Prevent Skipping Ahead under MediaShield > Settings > Player Controls, site-wide or per video. Viewers can rewind, but not seek past the furthest point they have watched. See the player.
Record completion per person
Every playback at Standard protection is a watch session tied to the employee’s account. MediaShield > Viewers lists each person with videos watched, average completion and last active time; open a person for their full history. Milestones are recorded at 25, 50, 75 and 100 percent, once per person per video, so re-watching does not double count. See watch analytics.
Watch history is kept by default. The Keep watch history for (months) setting is 0, meaning keep everything, unless you choose otherwise.
Report on it
Pro adds MediaShield > Export: CSV exports of watch sessions, milestones and users for a date range, with no cap on session and milestone rows, and a PDF summary of viewers, sessions, watch time and top videos. A weekly digest email summarises views and completions. See data export.
Share a login, see it
Training seats are often licensed per person. Max Concurrent Streams caps devices per account (default 2), and Pro flags accounts that start sessions from many IP addresses in a short window on its Alerts screen. It flags; it does not send an email. See stop shared logins.
What it will not solve
MediaShield has no captions or subtitles. If your training must meet accessibility requirements that include captions, MediaShield cannot meet them today, and you should know that before you choose it. It also does not issue certificates or run quizzes; an LMS does that.
Common questions
Can I prove an employee watched a whole video?
You can show their sessions, the furthest point reached and the milestones they hit, with timestamps. Prevent Skipping Ahead stops them jumping to the end. Pro exports this to CSV.
Does it work on an intranet?
It runs on any WordPress site your staff can log in to. Hosts such as YouTube or Vimeo need the viewer’s browser to reach them; files uploaded to your own server do not.
What about employee privacy?
Watch history is personal data. MediaShield plugs into WordPress personal data export and erasure, so an employee’s sessions are included when you run either.
