Upload Queue and Default Upload Target
MediaShield Pro proUpdated
Pro feature. Available in MediaShield Pro.
PRO - requires MediaShield Pro. This page covers only what Pro adds: sending uploads to a connected platform, the default target and the Upload Queue screen. Plain uploads to your own server are in the free plugin, see Upload a Video File in the free guide.
When you upload a video file from Videos > Add New, MediaShield sends it to the place set as the Default Upload Target. The Upload Queue screen keeps a history of those uploads so you can see which succeeded.
Why use it#
You upload once from WordPress and the file lands on the platform you already pay for, instead of filling your own server. The Upload Queue then shows what succeeded and what failed, so a failed upload is not a surprise a week later.
Before you start#
- To upload to a platform, connect it first.
- You need the
upload_mediashieldcapability (Administrators have it). - Your server's upload limit still applies. A file larger than the limit is refused before MediaShield sees it.
Choose where uploads go#
- Go to MediaShield > Settings.
- Find the Upload & Storage card. It appears only after you connect at least one platform.
- Pick the Default Upload Target.
| Choice | What happens |
|---|---|
| Auto (use connected platform) | Uploads go to the first active platform connection, in alphabetical order of platform name (Bunny, then Vimeo, then Wistia, then YouTube). With none connected, they stay on your site |
| Self-hosted (local server) | Uploads are stored on your own site |
| Bunny Stream, Vimeo, Wistia, YouTube | Uploads go to that platform. The choice lists only the platforms you have connected |
The default is Auto. This matters: once a platform is connected, a plain upload from Add New goes to that platform and not to your own server, unless you change the setting to Self-hosted. Only Auto falls back to self-hosted when nothing is connected. If you pick a named platform and later disconnect it, uploads to it will fail until you change the setting.
Upload a video#
- Go to Videos > Add New.
- Under Video Source, use Or upload a file, choose the file and click Upload. A progress bar and status line show the result.
- Click Publish or Update to keep the file.
Read the Upload Queue#
- Go to MediaShield > Upload Queue.
- Use Filter by status to show All statuses, Pending, Uploading, Processing, Complete or Failed. Refresh reloads the list. Use Next and Previous to page.
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Video | The video that was created or updated |
| File | The file name that was uploaded |
| Platform | The place it was sent to |
| Status | Where the upload is |
| Uploaded by | The person who uploaded it |
| When | When it started |
Statuses MediaShield records itself: Uploading when it starts, Complete when the platform accepts it, Failed when it does not. Pending and Processing exist in the filter, but the plugin does not set them in this version. Uploads that stay on your own site are listed too.
A failed row does not show the reason on screen. The reason is saved with the row. Check your platform credentials first, then try again.
What viewers see#
Nothing special. The uploaded video plays in the same protected player as any other video from that platform.
Settings and options for this feature#

- Set up the Bunny webhook so Bunny tells your site when encoding finishes.
