Who can watch / Free

Only the people you choose can press play.

Require a login, limit a video to chosen roles, and only allow playback on your own domains. All of it is in the free plugin.

What it does

Login is required by default, so a logged-out visitor sees a message instead of the video. Each video can also be limited to a role, and the match is exact: a video for students refuses an account that does not hold the student role, with administrators always allowed. An allowed-domains list stops the player working when your page is embedded somewhere else, and an empty referrer is refused.

Setting it up

The login gate is on from the start. Set a role on a video in its sidebar, and add your domains under Settings. The messages shown to logged-out and refused viewers are editable, and they are translated while you leave them at their defaults.

The limits, stated plainly

Only videos in the MediaShield library are protected. They are protected wherever they appear, including a builder block that prints the same YouTube or video URL, but a video you never added passes through untouched. Role and login gates decide who can start playback; they do not hide a YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia or Bunny video ID, because those embeds carry their own IDs.

Free and Pro

Login, role and domain gates are all free. Pro adds one more gate: enrolment in a LearnDash, Tutor LMS or LifterLMS course. Role gating is not a Pro feature. Every row, side by side.

Questions about who can watch

Can guests watch if I want them to?
Yes. Turn Require Login off and guests get a real session, with their views and watch time recorded. The stream limit and the 25/50/75/100 percent milestones apply to logged-in viewers only.
Can I give one video to one membership level?
If your membership plugin gives each level a WordPress role, yes: set that role on the video. For course enrolment in LearnDash, Tutor LMS or LifterLMS, Pro checks enrolment directly.
Does it hide the video address?
For video on your own server, yes: the player streams through a permission-checked address with a short-lived token. For YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia and Bunny it cannot, because their embeds expose their own video IDs.

This is in the free plugin.

No licence key, no site limit, nothing that expires.
